Schuyler County, NY – Fatal Boating Accident Takes Place on Waneta LakeNY Accident Lawyer
Schuyler County, NY (August 9, 2018) – The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a fatal boating accident that happened on Waneta Lake this evening. The sheriff’s office said that one person fell overboard around 8 p.m. Overboard incidents are some of the most common reasons for fatalities when it comes to boating accidents.
The victim who lost his life was not identified for several hours. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were apparently two other people aboard the boat at the time, both of which were taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yann. They only had minor injuries.
The victim was soon identified as 17-year-old Owen Thomas, a recent graduate from a Rochester area high school. At this time, the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
