Police believe that drowsy driving played a role in an accident that left two people injured: the driver and the passenger. The one-car crash on the Thruway left the two hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
41-year-old Mounir Hattak was driving his minivan on Saturday when his vehicle suddenly left the lane. He overcorrected the van and it left the road. Hattak and his passenger were taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Hattak might have fallen asleep at the wheel, which caused his vehicle to go off the roads. The crash did not cause significant delays on the roadway.
